Citation 1. These Rules may be cited as the Elections (Forms for the General Election and Referendum of 2025) Rules, 2025. 2. Definition 2. In these Rules, “referendum” has the meaning assigned by section 2(1) of the Referendum (Cruise Berthing Infrastructure, Gambling and Cannabis) Act, 2025. 3. Application of Rules 3. (1) These Rules repeal and replace Form 24 and Form 26 as set out in Schedule 2 of the Elections Act (2022 Revision) for the purposes only of the general election of 2025 and the referendum of 2025. c SL 13 of 2025 Page 5 Elections (Forms for the General Election and Referendum of 2025) Rule 4 Rules, 2025 (2) After the general election of 2025 and the referendum of 2025, Form 24 and Form 26 as set out in Schedule 2 to the Elections Act (2022 Revision) prior to the date of the commencement of these Rules shall apply. 4. Forms to be used during the general election and referendum of 2025 4. For the purposes of the general election and referendum of 2025 — (a) Form 24 set out in Schedule 1 specifies the directions for the guidance of electors concerning the general election and referendum questions on the ballot paper; and (b) Form 26 set out in Schedule 2 provides the ballot paper for the general election and the referendum of 2025. Page 6 SL 13 of 2025 c Elections (Forms for the General Election and Referendum of 2025) Rules, 2025 SCHEDULE 1 SCHEDULE 1 (rule 4(a)) FORM 24 DIRECTIONS FOR THE GUIDANCE OF ELECTORS CONCERNING THE GENERAL ELECTION, AND THE REFERENDUM QUESTIONS ON THE BALLOT PAPER GENERAL ELECTION 1. An elector may vote for 1 candidate only. If the elector votes for more than 1 candidate the part of the ballot paper which relates to the election is void and none of the votes will be counted. 2. If an elector attempts to give a candidate more than 1 vote the candidate will be awarded 1 vote only. 3. An elector votes for a candidate by placing an X to the right of the candidate’s name thus 1. For the purpose of determining the matters of national importance specified in the referendum the questions specified in Form 26 shall be asked in the referendum. 5. If an elector marks the ballot paper in any way that it is not clear whether the elector is answering yes or no the part of the ballot paper which deals with that question shall be rejected. 7. An elector may vote for one answer only in respect of each question. If the elector votes for more than one answer for a referendum question that referendum question shall be void. GENERAL 8. An elector must not vote at more than one polling station. 9. If an elector marks the ballot paper in any way that will identify the elector the entire ballot paper will be rejected. 10. After voting, an elector must fold the ballot paper along the line shown on the ballot paper and hand the folded ballot paper to the presiding officer. 11. The presiding officer will, in the full view of those present including the elector, remove the counterfoil from the ballot paper and return the ballot paper to the elector who will deposit the ballot paper in the ballot box; except that where the elector is unable from physical or other disability to deposit the ballot paper in the ballot box, the presiding officer will, on the elector’s behalf, deposit the ballot paper in the ballot box. 12. If an elector inadvertently spoils a ballot paper that elector can obtain another one by returning the spoilt one to the presiding officer. 13. A person given a ballot paper must not take it from the polling station. 14. After voting an elector must leave the polling station.
