The Primary Panel of Arbitrators of MIAC 2. The Secondary List of Arbitrators of MIAC The Primary Panel of Arbitrators consists of senior members in the field of international arbitration with substantial experience acting as an arbitrator. The Secondary List of Arbitrators consists of members who have adequate knowledge and experience in the field of international arbitration but who may have not yet received an appointment as arbitrator. The following standards shall apply when admitting members to the Register of Arbitrators of MIAC: 1. Candidates who wish to be admitted should demonstrate necessary experience and qualification and warrant that they are available to accept appointment as arbitrator for cases administered by MIAC. 3 ޓް ެޒެގ ެގރު ކާ ުރަސހި ެވިދ 1169 :ުދަދައ 48 :ްމއު ިލޮވ 2. Candidates may apply at any time to MIAC. Admission to the Primary Panel and Secondary List shall be determined by the Board of MIAC. The Board shall review applications and admit qualified persons on a quarterly basis. 3. In order to apply, candidates shall submit a cover letter and a copy of the applicant’s Curriculum Vitae and references (if any) in English. 4. As a minimum, the following standards will be considered by MIAC in admitting a person to the Register of Arbitrators: Primary Panel of Arbitrators i. A tertiary educational qualification and at least ten (10) years of professional experience in the field of practice; ii. Demonstrate substantial experience in international arbitration; iii. Confirm that the candidate has not been found guilty of a criminal offence; iv. Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators or recommended by a Fellow or has drafted at least one (1) international arbitral award. Secondary List of Arbitrators i. A tertiary educational qualification and at least ten (10) years of professional experience in the field of practice; ii. Demonstrate knowledge and experience with international arbitration; iii. Confirm that the candidate has not been found guilty of a criminal offence; iv. Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators or recommended by a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. 5. In exceptional circumstances, candidates who do not meet the minimum standards may be considered for either of the lists at the discretion of the Board, if the candidate has demonstrated substantial experience and expertise in arbitration or a particular field. 4 ޓް ެޒެގ ެގރު ކާ ުރަސހި ެވިދ 1169 :ުދަދައ 48 :ްމއު ިލޮވ 6. MIAC also may at its discretion invite persons fulfilling certain standards of good character and standing to apply for the purposes of increasing diversity of the Register of Arbitrators including gender, nationality, language ability or expertise in a particular field. 7. MIAC has the discretion to accept or reject applications for inclusion in the Register of Arbitrators of MIAC on the basis of qualifications and standing. Any such decision of MIAC to admit or reject an application is final. 8. Admission to the Register of Arbitrators of MIAC shall be for a fixed term.
