[1 February 1966] BE IT ENACTED by the Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong with the advice and consent of the Dewan Negara and Dewan Rakyat in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows: Short title and application 1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Tolls (Roads and Bridges) Act 1965. (2) This Act shall apply to the States of Peninsular Malaysia only. Imposition of tolls 2. (1) It shall be lawful for the Minister charged with responsibility for works with the concurrence of the Treasury, from time to time by order to impose tolls to be paid for the use by vehicles of such roads or any part thereof or of such bridges as may be specified in the order. In this section, the expressions “roads” and “bridges” mean federal roads and federal bridges, respectively. The Minister may cause a barrier to be erected across the road at any place where tolls are to be paid, and such barrier may be kept closed against any vehicle until the toll due in respect of such vehicle has been paid. Penalty for contravention of any order 4. The driver of any vehicle contravening any order made under section 2 shall be guilty of an offence and shall on conviction be liable to a fine not exceeding fifty ringgit. Exemption 5. The Minister may by order exempt any vehicle from the payment of tolls.
