Statute overview

About this statute

This Act sets up the National Wages Consultative Council, gives it functions on minimum wage advice and review, and makes it an offence for employers to pay covered workers less than the minimum wage order. The Director General may compound certain offences with the Public Prosecutor’s written consent, using a written offer and a payment capped at 50% of the maximum fine. If the amount is not paid in time, prosecution may start; if compounded, prosecution cannot be started for that offence. The Minister may also make regulations to implement the Act.
