About this statute

This regulation’s purpose is to require disclosure of key insurance terms and conditions to consumers and to support fair competition and informed consumer choice. This regulation applies only to insurance products offered to consumers. This article defines key terms used in the regulation, including premium, consumer, legal person, policy, policyholder, KFS, insurer, TCF, and insurance intermediary. Insurers and insurance intermediaries must give consumers a completed Key Facts Statement when required, in the prescribed format, and it must be signed. A Key Facts Statement must follow the prescribed form and be consistent with the related insurance policy; insurers and insurance intermediaries are only allowed to adjust non-form information or fee/service descriptions if needed to avoid misleading the consumer.
