Statute overview

About this statute

This article defines key terms used in the Convention, including international organization, mission, delegate, host State, and related mission and delegation roles. This article sets the Convention’s scope for State representation in relations with international organizations and certain conferences, and allows States to make the Convention apply by agreement in additional cases. This article says the Convention does not override relevant rules of the Organization or the Conference. This provision says the Convention does not affect certain other international agreements and does not stop States from making further agreements on representation matters. Member States may establish permanent missions, and non-member States may establish permanent observer missions, if the Organization’s rules allow it.
