Statute overview

About this statute

The treaty is ratified and, on request and subject to the treaty, each party must extradite covered persons to the other party. Named ministers are responsible for implementing the Order, and the provision also sets rules for extraditable offences and limits on refusing extradition. This Order takes effect on the day it is published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Rwanda. Extradition may be refused for several listed reasons, and if refused the requested Party may have to refer the matter to its competent authorities. Extradition requests must be made in writing, with supporting documents, and related communications must go through diplomatic channels and be in English.
