This Law determines the use of the human body, organs, tissues, cells and products of the human body for therapeutic, educational or scientific purposes. 8° xenotransplantation: the transplantation into a human recipient of an organ, a tissue or a cell from a nonhuman animal source; 8° xénotransplantation: transplantation chez un receveur humain d’un organe, d’un tissu ou d’une cellule provenant d’une source animale non humaine; 9° kuvana mu mubiri w’umuntu: gukura ku mubiri cyangwa mu mubiri ingirangingo, w’umuntu urugingo, akaremangingo cyangwa ibikomoka mu mubiri w’umuntu; 9° harvesting: removal from outside or inside the human body of an organ, tissue, cell or products of the human body; 10° kwigisha: umubiri gukoresha w’umuntu urugingo, wapfuye, ingirangingo, akaremangingo cyangwa ibikomoka mu mubiri mu gutanga ubumenyi mu by’ubuvuzi; 10° education: the use of a deceased person’s body, of an organ, tissue, cell or products of the human body for the purpose of imparting knowledge in the therapeutic field; A centre wishing to establish a bank of human bodies, organs, tissues, cells or products of human body makes a written application for the licence to the Ministry. A centre wishing to offer harvesting or transplantation services makes a written application for a licence to the Ministry. Such a licence is valid for a period of five (5) years renewable.
