This article defines what counts as “cultural heritage” for the Convention. This article defines what counts as “natural heritage” for this Convention. Each State Party must identify and delineate the properties on its territory referred to in Articles 1 and 2. Each State Party must do all it can to identify, protect, conserve, present, and pass on cultural and natural heritage on its territory to future generations. Each State Party should try, as far as possible and as appropriate, to protect and conserve cultural and natural heritage and support related planning, services, research, measures, and training.
