Statute overview

About this statute

This Order sets out the list of gross misconduct by an employee that can lead to termination of the employment contract without notice. Article 2 lists workplace acts that count as gross misconduct and says an employee who commits any of them may have the employment contract ended without notice. An employer may set additional gross-misconduct acts or behavior, but the list must be approved by the labour minister before use and communicated to employees in writing. All prior provisions that conflict with this Order are repealed. This Order takes effect on the day it is published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Rwanda.
