Statute overview

About this statute

This article creates CHU and says it has legal personality, administrative and financial autonomy. CHU’s head office must be in Huye District, Southern Province, and it may be moved elsewhere in Rwanda if necessary. CHU consists of CHUB and CHUK, and it may add other hospitals or specialized centres if approved by a Prime Minister’s Order. CHU must provide health care, medical education, research, hospital support, guideline development, and partnerships. The Prime Minister determines CHU’s supervising authority and category, and that authority and CHU’s decision-making organ must conclude a performance contract.
