About this statute
The Communal Congress must fix a list of up to five candidates per sector after a secret ballot, 12 days before the elections. The Bourgmestre must present the candidate list to the public by posting it at the communal office and each sector office. The commune congress approves a candidate list of no more than five candidates per sector, based on a secret ballot held 12 days before the election. The approved list is then sent to the prefect, and the burgomaster publicly posts notice of it at the commune and sector offices. Each polling station must have a president and three assessors, designated by the Prefect on the Bourgmestre’s proposal. A candidate may not be a member of the polling station bureau. Each polling bureau has a president and three assessors appointed by the Prefect on request of the Burgomaster. A candidate is not permitted to campaign. If the President is absent at the start of voting or during voting, the oldest assessor replaces the President automatically.
