Statute overview

About this statute

This Organic Law sets out how the Chamber of Deputies functions. This article defines key terms used in the Organic Law, including parliamentary spaces, sessions, committees, motions, and types of amendments. Members of the Chamber of Deputies are called “Deputies.” Deputies must be elected under the Organic Law on elections and must take the oath of office publicly before the President of the Republic, or the President of the Supreme Court if the President is absent. A Deputy loses the seat if one of the listed grounds occurs, and must notify the Speaker in writing in some cases.
