Statute overview

About this statute

Customs formalities, loading/unloading, and handling goods requiring customs intervention must be done on working days during specified hours, unless specially authorized or excepted. To do certain customs operations outside regular days/hours or outside customs premises, a person must first request authorization on a declaration set by the Administration. An authorization is subject to a tax, payable when the authorization is granted, with a possible deferment to the end of the month if the requester has the required surety. The tax is calculated by the number of necessary agents and declared hours, even if no work occurs, and it cannot be less than 140 francs per authorization. Certain customs formalities for travelers arriving outside regular days and hours at border offices are exempt from tax, if no commercial goods are being loaded, unloaded, or cleared.
