ENACTED by the President and the National Assembly. PART 1 PRELIMINARY Short title 1. This Act may be cited as the Public Service Salary (Amendment) Act, 2023, and amends the Public Service Salary Act, 2013 (hereinafter referred to as the “principal Act”). Section 1 of the principal Act is amended by repealing subsections (2) and (3). Amendment of section 2 3. Section 2 of the principal Act is repealed and substituted with the following new section — “Interpretation 2. In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires — “Minister” means the Minister responsible for public administration; “public service” means employment in the Government of the Republic of Seychelles and occupying any of the positions specified in the Second Schedule; “Public Service Salary Table” means the salary table referred to in section 4; “salary band” means a salary band as specified in the Public Service Salary Table.” Repeal of section 3 4. Section 3 of the principal Act is repealed. Amendment of section 4 5. Section 8 of the principal Act is amended by deleting the words “any person employed in the public service of Seychelles on the coming into operation of the public service salary table, shall not be affected adversely and shall continue to enjoy the salary not less favour able than those enjoyed by them before the coming into operation of the Public Service Salary Table” and substituting with “ Any person employed in, or elected to the public service of Seychelles on the coming into operations of this Act shall not be affected adversely and shall continue to enjoy the salary not less favourable than that enjoyed by the person before the coming into operations of this Act”. Repeal of section 9 10. Section 9 of the principal Act is repealed. Repeal of section 10 11. Section 10 of the principal Act is repealed. Amendment of the First Schedule 12. The First Schedule to the principal Act is amended by deleting the enacting sections “[Sections 2(e) 4(1)]” and substituting with “[Sections 2 and 4(1)]”. The Second Schedule to the principal Act is amended — (a) by deleting the enacting sections “[Sections 1(3) and 5(8) and (9)]” and substituting them with “[Section 4(1)]”; and (b) in Part A by inserting after item 10, the following new item “11. Ambassador, High Commissioner or any other principal representatives of Seychelles who represent Seychelles abroad”.
