Statute overview

About this statute

This section states that the Act aims to encourage and support nonprofit organisations. Every organ of state must, within the limits of the law, coordinate its policies and measures to support nonprofit organisations. The Minister must establish a Directorate for Nonprofit Organisations within the national department. The Directorate must prepare and issue model documents and codes of good practice, and it has listed responsibilities for policy, programmes, liaison, and multi-sectoral work. The Minister must table a written narrative and financial report about the Directorate’s activities in Parliament within six months after each financial year ends.
