Agriculture Laws Extension Act

1. In this Act, unless the context otherwise indicates- "affected area" means the national territories of the former Transkei, Bophuthatswana, S Venda and Ciskei, and the territories of the former self-governing territories of Gazankulu, KaNgwane, KwaNdebele, KwaZulu, Lebowa and Qwaqwa, as they existed immediately prior to the commencement of the.Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1993 (Act No. 200 of 1993); "Minister" means the Minister of Agriculture. 10 . Extension or laws · · 2. The laws mentioned· in Schedule 1 are hereby made applicable to the extent · ·. ·specified in the third column thereof, to every area which immediately prior to 27 April 1994 formed part of the affected area. 3. The laws mentioned in Schedule 2 are hereby repealed to the extent indicated in the third column thereof. Regulations and notices 1 ...

4. All regulations and notices promulgated or issued by the Minister in tenns of any law mentioned in Schedule I shall apply also in the affected area. Savings in respect of pending proceedings · .. .. ' ' . .. 5. (I) Nothing in this Act shall affect any legal proceedings which are pending at the commencement of this Act, and such proceedings shall be continued and concluded as if this Act had not been passed. (I) Nothing in this Act shall- ( a) affect the previous operation of any .law made. applicable by section 2 or repealed by section 3 or anything duly done or suffered under any law so made applicable or repealed; (b) · affect any right, privilege, obligation or liability acquired, accrued or incurred 5 under any law so made applicable or repealed; (c) affect any penalty, forfeiture or punishment imposed or incurred in respect of any offence committed in terms of any law so made applicable or repealed; (d) affect any appointment to any office made in terms of any law repealed by this 10 Act, if a corresponding law mentioned in Schedule 1 also provides for such an appointment, and anything done in connection with· or by virtue of any such appointment shall be deemed to have been done under such corresponding law. (2) A co-operative, co-operative society or co-operative company which has been 15 registered in terms of any law repealed by section 3, shall be deemed to be a co-operative whicb has been registered in terms of the Co-operatives Act, 1981 (Act No. 91 of 1981), made applicable by section 2 . .
