Statute overview

About this statute

This provision amends section 1 of the Security Officers Act, 1987 by deleting one definition and replacing or adding three others. This section amends section 21 of the principal Act by replacing the word “Commissioner” with “National Commissioner” in subsection (2) wherever it appears. Section 30(2) is replaced so that a person may not be appointed under subsection (1) unless registered as an accountant and auditor and engaged in public practice. A police officer in the Service may, when requested by the Board, give the Board information about an applicant’s previous convictions. The Minister may delegate powers under the Act, but only on conditions the Minister sets and not certain listed powers.
