Statute overview

About this statute

This section defines key terms used in the Act. This section says the Act is intended to provide for the further development, organisation, and governance of the NQF. This Act applies to qualifications offered by education institutions and skills development providers, and to professional designations, subject to limitations in the Act. The provision says the NQF is a national system for classifying, registering, publishing, and articulating quality-assured qualifications, and that SAQA and the QCs must work to achieve its objectives. The Minister has overall responsibility for the NQF and must carry out several listed actions, including consulting SAQA or a QC, setting policy, publishing policy and sub-frameworks in the Gazette, funding SAQA, and making dispute-resolution regulations.
