(Assented to 7 December 2001.) ACT To provide for the repeal of the “Woordeboek van die Afrilkaanse Taal” Act, 1973; and to provide for matters connected therewith. E IT ENACTED by the Parliament of the Republic of South Africa, as B fo11ows:- Definitions

1. In this Act, unless the context indicates otherwise- (i) “Bureau” means the Bureau of the “Woordeboek v a n die Afrikaanse Taal” established by section 2 of the “Woordeboek van die Afrikaanse Taal” Act, 1973 (Act No. 50 of 1973); (ii) “the company” means the unit established under section 8(8)(c) of the Pan South African Language Board Act, 1995 (Act No. 59 of 1995), for the Afrikaans language. 5 10 Dissolution of Board of Control

2. The Board of Control of the “Woordeboek van die Afrikaanse Taal”, contemplated in section 4 of the “Woordeboek van die Afrikaanse Taal” Act, 1973 (Act No. 50 of 1973), is hereby dissolved. Transitional provisions 3. (1) When this Act takes effect- ( a ) all assets, liabilities, rights and obligations of the Bureau are vested in the company without formal transfer and without payment of any fees, duties, taxes or other charges; (b) all the staff of the Bureau become employees of the company- (i) subject to the terms and conditions of employment that were applicable to them as staff of the Bureau; and (ii) with retention of all obligations, pensionable service, leave and other benefits; and 15 20 (c) anything done by or on behalf of the Bureau must be regarded as having been 25 done by or on behalf of the company. (2) For purposes of the Income Tax Act, 1962 (Act No. 58 of 1962)- ( a ) the employment of staff contemplated in subsection ( l ) ( b ) must not be regarded as constituting a change of employer; and (b) the position of the staff contemplated in paragraph ( a ) remains unchanged in 30 respect of the phasing-in of tax levied on benefits or advantages derived by reason of employment or the holding of any office as contemplated in Schedule 7 to the Income Tax Act, 1962. Repeal of laws
