Statute overview

About this statute

This section defines key terms used in the Act. The National Research Foundation is established as a juristic person from a date fixed by the President by proclamation in the Gazette. The Foundation’s object is to support research, and it must carry out specified functions, while some activities are restricted. The Board may change research divisions after consulting the Minister, but it must keep certain divisions in place and appoint a head for each division. The Foundation must also pay staff benefits from its funds, and seconded employees cannot be worse off because of secondment. The Foundation may give employee-related pension and benefit support, and must treat itself as an associated institution for one pension law purpose.
