About this statute

These Regulations may be cited as the Tanzania Meteorological Authority (Meteorological Services for Marine Activities) Regulations, 2021. These Regulations apply to the provision of meteorological services for marine activities in territorial waters. This section defines key marine-weather terms used in the Regulations. A person planning to operate a meteorological station or do forecasting over territorial waters must monitor weather and marine observations and warnings, decide when advisories or warnings need to be issued or changed, and use performance criteria and background knowledge in analysis and monitoring. A meteorological station operator must follow the Authority’s coordinated frameworks, including the national, regional and Global Observing System, the Voluntary Observing Scheme, and the Ship of Opportunity Programme.
