The Tanzania Shipping Agencies (Passenger Fares) Order, 2021

1. This Order may be cited as the Tanzania Shipping Agencies (Passenger Fares) Order, 2021. Application

2. This Order shall apply to a vessel owned by the Company plying the route of- (a) Mwanza North Port to Bukoba Port via Kemondo; and (b) Mwanza North Port to Nansio Port. Interpretation

3. In this Order, unless the context otherwise Cap. 415 Cap. 212 requires: “Act” means the Tanzania Shipping Agencies Act; “Company” means the Marine Services Company Limited incorporated in accordance with the Companies Act; “Corporation” means the Tanzania Shipping Agencies Corporation established under section 4 of the Act; and “vessel” means MV. New Victoria Hapa Kazi Tu, MV. New Butiama Hapa Kazi Tu and any other vessel operated by the Company in Lake Victoria. Charge of approved passenger fare

4. The Company shall, where operating any vessel including MV. New Victoria Hapa Kazi Tu and MV. New Butiama Hapa Kazi Tu - (a) charge fare prescribed in the Schedule to this Order; and 1 Tanzania Shipping Agencies (Passenger Fares) GN. NO. 760 (Contd.) Cap. 415 (b) comply with the conditions for provisions of the maritime transport services Corporation in accordance with the Act. issued by Conditions of service

5. The Company shall, when providing services, ensure compliance with the following conditions: (a) undertake marketing strategies to increase both passenger ridership and freight; (b) deploy a robust revenue collection system to facilitate and encourage customers to use the vessels while controlling leakage of revenue; (c) safety standards in accordance with the Merchant Shipping Act; Cap. 165 (d) submit to the Corporation Training Plan on from customer care within commencement date of this Order; and six months (e) implement the submitted Training Plan on customer care for the purposes of improving quality of service. 2 Tanzania Shipping Agencies (Passenger Fares) GN.
