1. This Notice may be cited as the Water Resources Management (Wami Ruvu Basin Water Sources Protected Zone) Establishment Notice, 2024.

2. The areas specified in the Schedule are hereby established to be protected zone.

3. 1. LUKURUNGE WATER SOURCE ZONE The water source of the Lukurunge River is located in Konga Village. This source was identified in 1998 and has been demarcated in 2022. The source is located coordinates 343844 to 344538 east and 9235187 to 9236981 north. It is also located 520 meters to 536 from the sea level. This source is one of the streams that pours its water into the Ruvu River and is located in Morogoro District. This source feeds its water into the Mindu Dam which is used by the Morogoro Water Authority (MORUWASA). The area proposed to be protected zone is 231,162 Square Meters and no compensation is required since there are no human activities taking place in this area. 2. MZUWAZI WATER SOURCE ZONE. The water source of the Mzuwazi River is located in Amini Village. The source was identified in 2003 and the boundaries were marked in 2023. This source is located between coordinates 365821 to 366113 east and 92367051 to 9237508 north. It is also located 842 meters away from 914 from sea level. NO.786 (Contd.) pours its water into the Ruvu River and is located in Morogoro District. The area proposed to be protected is 61,055 Square Meters and no compensation is required as there are no human activities taking place in this zone. This source is located between coordinates east 361610 to 362154 east and 9219439 to 9220151 north. It is also located 325 meters to 426 from sea level. This source is one of the streams that pours its water into the Ruvu River and is located in Morogoro District. 4. MBEZI WATER SOURCE AREA – MORUNG’ANYA The water source of the Mbezi - Morung'anya River is located in Bagilo Village. The source has been identified in 1996 and the boundaries have been marked in 2023. The source is located between 358747 to 359267 east and 9234383 to 9234683 north. It is also located at a distance of 667 to 749 meters from sea level. This source is one of the streams that pours its water into the Ruvu River and is located in Morogoro District. The area proposed to be protected is 76,488 Square Meters and no compensation is required since no human activities are taking place in this zone. This source is one of the streams that pours its water into the Ruvu River and is located in Morogoro District.
