Statute overview

About this statute

The President appoints the Board Chair, the Minister appoints eight other Board members, and the Director General serves as Board Secretary. The members must elect one of their number as Vice Chairman of the Board. When appointing Board members, the Minister must make sure each appointee is, in the Minister’s opinion, prominent and suitably experienced or qualified to contribute to the Board’s work. Board members normally serve for the period set by the appointing authority, or for three years if no period is set, and some members may resign in writing. A qualifying Board member who cannot attend a meeting may nominate, in writing, someone from their organisation to attend in their place.
