Statute overview

About this statute

The Chairman must preside at Committee meetings, and if the Chairman is absent the members present must choose a temporary Chairman. The presiding Chairman or temporary Chairman has a vote, including a casting vote if votes are equal. The Committee must meet quarterly, may meet at additional times set by the Chairman or the Executive Secretary, and the Executive Secretary must give each member adequate notice of meetings. A Committee meeting has a quorum only if at least half of all Committee members are present, and each group is represented. If a Committee member misses three consecutive meetings without reasonable cause, the Committee must inform the appointing authority, and the appointing authority may end that member’s appointment and replace them. The appointing authority may appoint a temporary member when a member is ill, infirm, or absent from Tanzania for a long time.
