About this statute
The President may make regulations prescribing conditions and manner for granting pensions, gratuities or other allowances in respect of death, disablement or sickness of members of the armed forces, subject to residency condition for forces joined outside Ugandan law. Pensions, gratuities and other allowances granted under this Act cannot be assigned, transferred, attached, sequestered or levied, except for debts due to the Government. If a person fails to draw a pension or allowance for a continuous period of not less than one year, the President may cancel the pension or allowance and withhold arrears; the President may also restore the award and pay arrears in whole or in part in a particular case. The President may restore pensions withheld or forfeited and may direct payment of pensions to a pensioner's wife or child in certain cases.
