Section 25-5-10 Liabilities of Persons Engaged in Schemes, Etc., to Avoid Liability to Workers.

A person who uses a fraudulent scheme to do work without being responsible for worker benefits is treated as an employer and faces the same liabilities. The employer is also not liable for compensation for injuries caused by third parties outside the employer’s service or work, except as provided in Section 25-5-11.
