The department may investigate any licensee, registrant, associate, employee or person if that licensee, registrant, associate, employee or person advertises as providing or performs services that require licensure or registration under this chapter. B. The department shall investigate whether a licensee or registrant is engaged in activities that do not comply with or are prohibited by this chapter. C. The department shall enforce this chapter without regard to the place or location in which a violation may have occurred. D. On the complaint of any person or on its own initiative, the department may investigate any suspected violation of this chapter or the business and business methods of any licensee, registrant or employee of a licensee or applicant for licensure or registration under this chapter. E. A complaint filed against any licensee, associate, registrant or employee of a licensee must be in writing, on a form prescribed by the department and filed with the department. F. In any investigation by the department, each licensee, associate, registrant, applicant, agency or employee, on request of the department, shall provide records and truthfully respond to questions concerning activities regulated under this chapter. The licensee shall maintain these records for five years at the licenseeâs principal place of business or at another location for a person whose license has been terminated, canceled or revoked. At the departmentâs request, the licensee shall make the records available immediately to the department during normal business hours or at another time acceptable to the parties, unless the department grants an extension. The licensee shall provide copies of any records requested by the department.
