1. “Taxpayer” as used in this section means a person liable for the payment of tax as stated in section 450.5. 2. (3) The period for examination and determination of the correct amount of tax to be reported and due under this chapter is unlimited in the case of failure to file a return or the filing of a false or fraudulent return or affidavit. b. In addition to the applicable periods of limitations for examination and determination specified in paragraph “a”, subparagraphs (1) and (2), the department may make an examination and determination at any time within six months from the date of receipt by the department of written notice from the taxpayer of the final disposition of any matter between the taxpayer and the internal revenue service with respect to the federal estate, gift, or generation skipping transfer tax.
