104.1033. Early retirement annuity, when. — 1. Any member who has not attained normal retirement eligibility but who has at least five years of credited service may retire with an early retirement annuity on or after attainment of age fifty-seven and by making application in written form and manner approved by the board. 2. The early retirement annuity shall be a certain percent of an annuity provided for in subsection 2 of section 104.1024. The percent shall be one hundred percent reduced by one-half of one percent multiplied by the number of months by which age at early retirement is younger than normal retirement eligibility. 3. Subject to the provisions of subsection 2 of section 104.1027, the early retirement annuity shall be paid for the life of the retiree unless an optional form of payment is elected as provided for in section 104.1027.
