§ 1-567. 63. Correction and interpretation of awards; additional awards.

(a)Within 30 days of receipt of the award, unless another period of time has been agreed upon by the parties: (1)A party may request the arbitral tribunal to correct in the award any computation, clerical or typographical errors or other errors of a similar nature; (2)A party may request the arbitral tribunal to give an interpretation of a specific point or part of the award.If the arbitral tribunal considers such request to be justified, it shall make the correction or give the interpretation within 30 days of receipt of the request. Such correction or interpretation shall become part of the award. (b)The arbitral tribunal may correct any error of the type referred to in subsection (a) of its own initiative within 30 days of the date of the award. (c)Unless otherwise agreed by the parties, within 30 days of receipt of the award, a party may request the arbitral tribunal to make an additional award as to claims presented in the arbitral proceedings but omitted from the award. If the arbitral tribunal considers the request to be justified, it shall make the additional award within 60 days after the date of receipt of the request. (d)The arbitral tribunal may extend, if necessary, the period within which it shall make a correction interpretation, or an additional award under subsection (a) or (c). (e)The provisions of G.S. 1-567.61 shall apply to a correction or interpretation of the award or to an additional award made under this section. History: History.1991, c. 292, s. 1.
