Statute overview

About this statute

This provision is the preamble and title of a law on the rights and responsibilities of deputies. This provision says the law regulates the deputy’s rights, responsibilities, immunity, and compensation before, during, and after the mandate. A deputy has a special status during the exercise of the parliamentary mandate. A deputy represents citizens and, during the mandate, follows only his or her conscience; the deputy must perform duties in line with constitutional provisions, the law, and the Assembly’s rules of procedure. No one may be prevented from standing for election or exercising the deputy’s mandate, except where the law allows.
