About this statute

This section gives the Act’s short title: the Plant Pests and Diseases Act. This section defines key terms used in the Act and gives the Minister power to declare pests and alternate hosts by notice, order, or regulation. This Act applies to the Republic. The Minister may make pest-control regulations, and inspectors may declare infested areas and stop removal of pest-spreading items for up to 14 days. The Minister may make regulations about inspecting, disinfecting, or fumigating vehicles suspected of carrying an injurious organism, and about fees for those services.
