Statute overview

About this statute

This Act may be cited as the Births and Deaths Registration Act. This section defines key terms used in the Act, including child, district, Registrar, Registrar-General, and still-born. The Minister may, by statutory instrument, divide Zambia into districts or alter districts for the purposes of the Act. The law provides for appointment of a Registrar-General and district registrars, and lets the Minister confer registrar powers and duties on a person where a district has no Registrar. Births and deaths in Zambia after the Act starts must be registered under this Act.
