Statute overview

About this statute

This section gives the Act its short title and says when it is deemed to have started, with some listed provisions starting earlier. Office holders listed in the First Schedule are entitled to salary, special allowance, possible housing allowance, and certain expense allowances; the Government Chief Whip gets an additional allowance in some cases. The provision sets annual allowance amounts for certain National Assembly members and for Members of the Central Committee, Ministers, and Junior Ministers. Some members of the National Assembly are paid a salary and special allowance, and the National Assembly may add other allowances by resolution. Allowances payable under this Act are exempt from income or profits tax.
