About this statute

This preamble states that the law sets rules for courts handling non-contentious proceedings and aims to align those procedures with international standards. Courts must act and decide on matters handled in non-contentious procedure, and the law also applies to certain other legal matters not assigned by law to contentious procedure rules. The general provisions of this law apply to special non-contentious procedures under this law unless otherwise provided, and to other non-contentious matters where no special procedural rules are set by another law. In non-contested proceedings, the rules of the law on contested procedure apply unless this law says otherwise. The court may start a non-contentious procedure only in the cases and conditions set by law, and it must notify the competent organ without delay if the procedure was started by someone else.
